In Worlds 1, 3, 5, and 6, you can turn the wandering Hammer Bros. enemy on the map into a treasure ship loaded with coins. To do so, you must complete a stage while the following is true:

• The stage timer has an even number of seconds remaining
• Coins collected are a multiple of 11 (i.e. 33, 44, or 55)
• The 10s digit of your score matches the digit present in your coin total (for example, you have 11 coins and the 10s digit of your total score is a 1)

Here's the most seamless way to get from the first world to the eighth (final) world of the game.

1.) Play until you get to Level 1-3. Here, you should dash to the end of the level until you get to a white platform near the end. Stand atop it, hold down until you 'fall behind it', and run to the end of the level. You'll acquire a Warp Whistle.

2.) Play from there until you reach the World One Fortress. Make sure you're Raccoon Mario as you traverse the stage (ignoring the Fire Flower you are offered). At the end, you can go through a door, or you can fly high above and over the door. When you do, run to the right (you won't see your character) and press Up to enter a secret room. Within is another Warp Whistle.

3.) Now, select one of the Warp Whistles from your menu and use it. But don't select a destination world! Instead, use a Warp Whistle, your second, right after you use the first. This will allow you to access the eighth and final world of the game.

To defeat Bowser the other way, use fire Mario or hammer Mario to fire at him. He will turn over and fall on his head when he reaches the bottom.

To play any level you want over and over again, simply beat all 90 levels in the game. You'll even be able to access the fortresses, spade games, mushroom houses and hammer brother fights as many times as you want!

Warp Flute 1: In world one, level three, go near the end of the level until you see a white block. Step onto this white block and duck, and after a while you will fall behind it. The White Mushroom Houses in Worlds 1, 3, 5, and 7 give you P Wings, while the White Mushroom Houses in Worlds 2, 4, and 6 give you Anchors.

For easy 1 ups go to world 1 level 2. After the first set of blocks (1 coin and 1 power up) on the other side of the pipes let 5 goombas drop out, jump on them and hop to the ones that fall out of the pipe without touching the ground. After you get around 8 kills you will receive an extra life for each one you hit.

In World 8-2, sink into the first quicksand pit to drop into a secret area.

There is an easy way to beat the ship level (after the tank level) in the final world. Just swim under below the ships. Keep presing A so you won't sink too deep and die.

Go to a mushroom house and pick a chest. If it contains a suit, get a game over. Now select continue. The levels you have beaten will not be reset, only the mushroom houses and the slot machine games. After continuing, go back to the same mushroom house where you've received the suit.
