Rhythm games have been around for a long time. Who can forget the days of Dance Dance Revolution? We saw a huge spike in popularity with games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero as well. As it turns out, there is plenty of the genre on mobile as well. Here are the best rhythm games for Android!

15 best puzzle games for Android

Arcaea

Arcaea is one of the newer rhythm games on the list. It has an anime style like most of the others on the list. This one also uses a more old school step bridge like Guitar Hero rather than the newer tap-and-swipe mechanics of something like Cytus II. The game play is smooth and easy to pick up. You also get over 90 songs from 50 artists, three difficulty levels per track, and more music available as in-app purchases. Leaderboards and online friends round out the experience. Much of the content is free, but you need to purchase the additional tracks, again, as in-app purchases.

BeatX

BeatX is one of the more consistent rhythm games on Android. It also features a DDR-style method of play with directional buttons and holds. You’ll also have access to a single player mode, doubles mode, and split-screen multiplayer. On top of being a solid title, the game also features tons of content. You’ll also be able to upload your own files as long as they are in in the proper formats (.sm, .smzip, .dwi). It’s a fairly comprehensive game. It's a good one for those who like competitive rhythm games.

Cytoid

Cytoid is one of the newer rhythm games on the list. It's a community rhythm game. In fact, the game download has very few songs on its own. You can find, download, and add songs by other members of the Cytoid community. You can also develop your own step files for others to play. It plays a lot like the popular Cytus in terms of looks and mechanics. Some even call this one a clone. This is an excellent game for the more hardcore rhythm game enthusiasts out there. It's also totally free with no in-app purchases or ads.

Dynamix

Dynamix is one of the newer generation of rhythm games that have done very well. This one features a top-down style of play along with swiping actions that add to the complexity and difficulty. It features 20 songs and you can buy more as in-app purchases. Like many, this one uses an anime theme with bright, neon colors all over the place. It's not as deep as something like Cytus. However, it still does the basic rhythm game stuff really well. You can download it for free and buy more songs through in-app purchases.

Lanota

Lanota is one of the most unique rhythm games on this list. It puts a much heavier emphasis on the story line. You’ll play as the eponymous title character as you travel a map and discover new secrets. The actual game mechanics take place on a giant wheel that moves around. This makes the game both challenging and complex. It doesn't feel like other rhythm games even though it is one. It features ten levels, three difficulties, 16 tracks, and a picture book that shows you the story. It’s definitely unique.

Lost in Harmony

Lost in Harmony is a beautifully done rhythm game with runner-style elements. Players control a boy and girl in the center of the screen. They must avoid obstacles to the beat of the music. There are two stories in the game, those of MIRAI and Kaito. Additionally, the developers boast over 10,000 additional tracks by other members of the community. To be perfectly honest, we don't play games like this one very often. It's a free download as well with some in-app purchases.

Lethe

Lethe is one of the newer rhythm games on mobile. It refers to itself as a theatrical music game. It has a story and the game is technically rhythm style. However, the taps can appear anywhere on the screen with all manner of swiping and tapping. Like they say, it does feel more theatrical. It doesn't quite feel like a classic game in the genre. it also boasts hand-painted graphics. It really is a beautiful game if nothing else. The game is free to download and play. You can purchase additional content as in-app purchases. This one hasn't received an update since 2017, so we're not sure it's still in active development.

OverRapid

OverRapid is one of the tougher rhythm games on the list. All of these games have a hard mode. However, OverRapid adds to the difficulty with a total of six lanes and that's a little higher than you normally see. The game features a bunch of music, more music through in-app purchases, and a few play modes that make things a little easier. The graphics are colorful and futuristic. The app has the occasional bug and it's not quite as deep as some of these others. However, its unique game play and decent music selection make it a top pick for us.

Pianista

Pianista is an other unique rhythm game. Most mobile rhythm games use high energy electronica for their step files. This one uses old piano classics. It otherwise plays like most rhythm traditional rhythm games. The notes come down and you hit them as they go. This one has a ton of payment options and, unfortunately, some of the worst freemium elements of any game on the list. Otherwise, the game is actually pretty fun to play. We'll let you decide if the money is worth it or not.

Rayark rhythm games

Rayark is a developer on Google Play with a collection of outstanding rhythm games. Their library includes the popular Cytus and Cytus II along with VOEZ, Deemo, Sdorica, and the older Mandora. These are among the best of the best in this genre on mobile and possibly outside of mobile as well. Each games a bit of a story with some songs to play. There are in-app purchases for additional song packs as well. These are top tier good, although some, like Mandora, haven't been updated in a very long time. Rayark basically single-handedly dragged this genre into relevance and their games are all top notch.

Anime games are popping up everywhere. The entire genre is going multi-platform these days. You don’t just get a new anime, but also a new game, some manga, and a whole mess other content. However, not all anime games are the same. Some are reasonably decent. However, the vast majority just don’t stack up. Here’s looking at you, DanMachi: Memoria Freese. In any case, anime fans have a lot of options. Here are the best anime games for Android! Please note that all of these are freemium games and most of their negative reviews are from players who have basically reached the end of the game and have nothing left to do.

10 best gacha games and mobile RPGs for Android!

Azur Lane

Azur Lane is not an anime on its own, yet. However, one was announced in September 2018. This is a mobile gacha RPG with shooting, simulation, and side-scrolling elements. You collect anthropomorphic girls that act as warships. You do battle with the bad guys with your ship girls. The game takes place in an alternate universe version of World War II. In addition to its obvious Kantai Collection inspiration, the game has characters from Hyperdimension Neptunia and Armored Trooper VOTOMS. It's a decent little gacha game, especially for moe fans.

Dragon Ball Legends

Dragon Ball Legends is a fighter with some light RPG, gacha, and adventure elements. It features a story mode as well as online PvP multiplayer. You can also collect all of the various Dragon Ball characters. The combat mechanics are similar to many freemium mobile fighters. It's mostly a series of simple taps and swipes rather than any complicated mechanics. The Dragon Ball series was always a little too dry for my tastes and the game is much the same way. However, fans of the series seem to really like this one over most of the other mobile Dragon Ball games. Most of the complaints we saw were for a lack of new content and some connection issues.

Fate/Grand Order

Fate/Grand Order is from the massive and popular Fate anime. It's a fairly standard gacha mobile RPG. You collect some of the massive cast of characters from the long-running series and do battle against the bad guys. It features a story mode, online PvP, and it's fairly friendly for F2P (free to play) players. Most of the cast is fully voiced as well. We appreciate those little touches. Of course, it does have the same pitfalls as any mobile gacha. There is a ton of grinding, a little luck, and some corny dialog involved. However, The Fate series itself is much the same way. Plus, this is one of the few mobile RPGs that plays in landscape mode. More space is a good thing.

Grancrest War: Quartet Conflict

Grancrest War: Quartet Conflict is part of the new wave of of anime games. It got an anime and a mobile game in the same year (2018). There is also a light novel series, a manga, and even a tabletop game. The mobile game is a fairly standard hack-and-slash RPG. You won't find anything too out of the ordinary here. There are missions and quests, various character classes, and plenty of loot. You can change characters in real-time mid-combat if you want to. There are some light gacha elements as well. It's a fun game overall, especially for fans of the manga and anime. However, it's only about average for its genre overall.

One Piece Treasure Cruise

One Piece Treasure Cruise is a gacha adventure game with gacha and RPG elements. You've definitely played a game like this before. It features over 1,000 characters from the anime as well as huge portions of the anime's actual story line. The combat is a simple tap system so nothing too exciting there. It is effective for the style of game, though. It's a relatively above average game in the gacha category. There are some recent updates that have introduced a few bugs. However, we expect those to get patched over time. It's a good anime game.

RWBY: Amity Arena

Download Game Anime Untuk Pc

RWBY: Amity Arena is a dueling game similar in premise to games like Hearthstone, Clash Royale, and Badland Brawl. Players collect cards, build decks, and battle those decks against other players. It also has some MOBA elements. You must destroy your opponent's buildings before they destroy yours. In any case, this is strikingly different from the usual gacha RPG style that most anime games use. The matchmaking could use some more balance, though. Do beware of that as you progress through the game. Also, there is a debate about whether RWBY is an anime, but we're not here to be all pedantic. It's a fun game.

Sword Art Online: Memory Defrag

SAO: Memory Defrag is a popular game from a very popular anime. It keeps a lot of elements from the show, though. It features a hack-and-slash action RPG style with a story mode as well as online PvP. You can play both modes solo or with friends if you want to. It is a gacha game. That means you can collect a bunch of characters from the show and upgrade each one. It won't blow your socks off with unique mechanics or anything, but it's a fairly decent mobile RPG. Most of the complaints about this one are optimization issues and the occasional crash bug.

Tales of Erin

The Tales series is a popular series of RPGs, anime, and other content. However, there are no actual Tales games on mobile anymore, at least not globally. Thus, we're going to go with a similar type of game with Tales of Erin. It's a mobile RPG with a decent story line, decent mobile RPG mechanics, and, of course, some gacha elements as well. This game also benefits from being relatively F2P friendly and it also has decent graphics. It's definitely not an official Tales game, but we can forgive the faux pas. It's definitely a decent anime-inspired title and basically a place holder until Bandai gives an official Tales game another go.

Tokyo Ghoul: Re Birth

Tokyo Ghoul: Re Birth is another gacha mobile RPG. This one follows the original story of the anime and beyond that. There are 100 characters to collect, a simple battle system, and an online PvP system. The game has a unique social gaming element. Each season, players are split into Ghouls and Humans. Each side battles over controls of various territories. It adds a little something extra to an otherwise typical mobile RPG experience. It's not the most friendly F2P game ever, but it's good enough to be on this list.

Ultimate Ninja Blazing

Naruto is intensely popular so we wanted to include at least one game from that series on this list. There are several, but this seems to be the best one of the bunch. It's another gacha RPG with a deep meta, over 100 characters, and plenty of story quests to complete. The story mode retells the Naruto story. In addition, the game has a online multiplayer mode, special events, and the other freemium gacha elements that help keep things interesting. Naurot X Boruto Ninja Voltage is a newer game in the Naruto lineup, but we just didn't like it as much as this one. You can go with either, though.
